Frequently asked questions

Q - Do  you actually capture ghosts?

A - The answer to that is a very firm no, we very much leave that sort of thing to the film industry. Movies like Ghost  Busters seemed to allude to the possibility that there was a level of technology that could be used to actually ensnare and encase a force of energy in a electro magnetic containment field, however for now we will leave that particular hypothesis in the field of movie fantasy. We are here to simply investigate, evaluate and report back on any findings and conclusions we have made from our investigation. This is achieved by  Encounters NZ utilizing some of the latest scientific research equipment, as well as our own (colloquial) sixth sense.

Q - Does every investigation you do uncover a potential inhabiting ghosts?

A - No not at all, in fact nearly all investigations uncover a completely different reason for what an individual or family are experiencing. In fact when we fist commence an investigation, we go through a thorough process of eliminating potential causes before we commence the actual physical investigation. An example of this is based on one of the pieces of technology we use is known as an EMF reader (electro magnetic force). This item picks up on any electromagnetic field of force around us and feeds us back this information, alerting us to the potential presence of an entity. However, this equipment can also detect the electromagnetic energy being emitted by your TV, microwave, computer and even your cellphone. We therefore in many cases unplug or switch off these items before commencing the investigation to avoid any potential false readings.

Q - What are orbs?

A - This is one question we do get asked a lot. As mentioned before, we go through a thorough process of eliminating any potential misleading cause/effects that could influence the outcome of our investigation. We have for example been given images to view prior to the investigation that seem to show a large number of orb like objects floating throughout the image. This can look very compelling, but if  you were to ask the person if they were perhaps standing outside (in the dark) whilst there was either a light mist or a light drizzle, we might then say (if the answer is yes) that in this instance the camera/cellphone's flash reflecting back off of the water particles  thereby causing the orb effect. This can also be used as an explanation for dust particles too. Another cause for orb like objects within an image can be actually caused by simply mould spores being trapped behind the lens of a  camera. However, so saying that, like with most things there are times when we are given a piece of evidence that even we cannot clearly identify either scientifically or logically a clear explanation for the object/s existence.

Q - Do we charge for our services?

A - If the investigation occurs within our local region then we do not charge anything for our services. If however the investigation is outside of our region and requires travelling to the site, then we will charge the client for fuel and accommodation costs.
